SARVAM’s HOPE Programme brings the wisdom of Yoga and Ayurveda to help understand Wellness and its importance in a School, in understanding the needs of children with special needs/neurodiverse conditions.
H for Health
O for Opportunity
P for Personality
E for Education
SARVAM as an organization believes in bringing up children in the happiest way possible. Children with Special Needs are often subject to polarization and their parents always feel enormous pressure to bring about inclusivity and instil independence in their child’s lives.
We know that this Programme will help parents and children alike to reduce or bridge the gap in a pressure free environment focused on Wellness based Health.
In the HOPE Programme, the first component is Health.
Ayurveda based Health Analysis, includes a very elaborate and comprehensive study and discussion of the child’s medical history, of the neurodiverse condition, the environment they are currently in, the diet they follow, and the therapies that they have undergone till date.
Our TherapiesYoga based therapy will be the first and foremost intervention that will be used to work on the improvement of the child’s health. The effectiveness of Yoga in improving general and specific health conditions of children with Special Needs is understated and little known. There is a whole world of possibilities that exist in this age-old practice of body movement which is applicable therapeutically for neurodiverse conditions.
Opportunity in the HOPE Programme will attend to areas of improvement in both the Fine and Gross Motor skills, which have been identified in the Health analysis. It includes Occupational Therapy, Music (South Indian Classical Carnatic Music), Dance (Bharatanatyam) and Arts.
Therapy via Occupational Therapy is aimed to help children gain independence in all areas of their lives. It helps children’s ability to move, play and opens up skills required for daily activities. It is the use of assessment and intervention to develop, recover, or maintain the meaningful activities, or occupations, of individuals in groups and communities.
We have chosen Bharatanatyam to be the medium of the performing Art Form for Dance Therapy in the HOPE Programme.
Therapy via Arts.Drawing and Painting are powerful forms of expression, where a student explores, refines, and communicates ideas, thoughts and feelings. Arts enable a student to take action, make mistakes, explore and search for answers. No other educational medium offers the same kind of opportunity. Development of compassion and empathy through arts bridges gaps across different cultures that lead to a respect for other cultures at an early age. Arts complete academics.
